Create What You Most Need Right Now

Yesterday I was thinking about music and motivation. This morning I woke up thinking about art and books and things that have spoken to me in the past. I started to think about Sabrina Ward Harrison – which took me to her website. Ultimately, I ended up on her Etsy page where the shop announcement is simply this: make what you most need to find.

It’s not the first time that a simple statement has got me thinking and started to guide me. Another – signed on the back of piece of Sabrina’s art that’s hanging in my living room – is “trust your path.” It was in exploring that phrase and looking for my path that I found myself forgiving myself for my last major relapse, choosing to move, and ultimately beginning my transition – if ever any path taken required trust and faith in the process, it was this one. But I digress.

I’ve been thinking a lot today – in breaks from looking at numbers – about what I need right now and about what it’s going to take to create it. I’ve been thinking even more about music and the songs that get me through the darker, more chaotic moments. I’ve also been pointed to related, older posts from others (like this one from Finding Melissa) and seen additional posts – like the one on my.counseling.org – coming in waves that have me believing that the universe has got to be trying to tell me something.

It’s been a long time since I took the time to create anything. My camera sits still and I never followed through with the upgrade. I am low on paints. Even though I’ve installed writing software on my computer, I haven’t really opened the program to take it for a spin.

The quirky part? I’m not sure why. Now my thoughts are bouncing between possibilities. Either I don’t know the right medium, or I don’t know what I need to find…
